Electric bike 30 Mph with 20 Mile Range under $800!
Speed, Distance and Cheap. The E-bike formula says you can have a couple of those things but not all of them. We wont to show you how you can have it all! A 30-MPH, 20-mile range, $800 electric bike. A few years ago this would not be possible, but do to recent price drops in battery technology you can. 30-MPH is about as fast as you would want to go on an ebike, and a 20-mile range will let you go the distance. There are only a few premade electric bikes that can match or top these numbers and they normally cost $3,000 to $6,000 dollars. So why not spend a couple hours and build one yourself?
The most time consuming part is locating where to buy all the parts since there is a lot of junk out there that you should be cautious of. In my guide below I will link to all the places I purchase my parts so that you can avoid the hassle and save time and money. In order to go 3o-MPH you need to pump 1000 watts to a motor. This can be easily achieved by using a 48V battery connected to a 25A controller. A 20-mile range with minimal pedaling and cruising at a 20-MPH speed will require 500-watt hours of battery. Watt hours is calculated by taking the voltage which in our case is 48V and multiplying it by the Amp Hour. In order for us to come close to 500 watt- hours we will need a 48V 10Ah battery.
To start our build we are going to want to obtain a mountain bike. I prefer mountain bike since they have stronger frames and better suspension and are more comfortable to ride. If you already own one your electric bike build should cost you less then $500. If you need one I recommend the following bike below:

Battery Recommendation: 48V 10AH Kettle Bottle Lithium Battery for Electric Bike ebike Li-ion Battery: $299
As mentioned above you will need a 48V 10Ah battery. I definitely recommend Lithium batteries due to their lightweight and recharge ability life. A lot of people purchase their batteries off EBay, I however have found that Aliexpress offers much better deals for the exact same batteries. Click here for more information.
Motor Kit Recommendation: 48V 1000W Electric Bicycle LCD Display 26″ Front / Rear Wheel Motor Kit: $274
